OUR FAITH
THE HOLY TRINITY
There is but one and true living God, an eternal Being, indivisible, of infinite power wisdom and goodness, the Creator and Preserver of all things visible and invisible. In this Godhead there is a Trinity of one substance and power and co-eternal, namely Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, and shares equally of the glory and the majesty of the Father and the Son, He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and judgment, He comforts the believers and guides them in truth.
THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
The Holy Scriptures were given to us by divine inspiration, were inerrant in the original manuscripts and continue to be our infallible authority as the Word of God, By the Holy Scriptures we understand the sixty-six Canonical Books of the Old and the New Testaments.
THE SABBATH
We believe in that the Christian Sabbath is divinely appointed that it is in commemoration of our Lord’s resurrection and is the emblem of our eternal react. The Sabbath should be reverently observed as a day of holy rest and public worship.
THE CHURCH
The visible Church is the Community of true believers among whom the Word of God is preached in its Purity, the Sacraments administered according to Christ’s commandment for the maintenance of spiritual worship and edification of the believers, for the proclamation of the Gospel and evangelization of the world.
THE JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
We are accounted righteous before God only by God’s Grace, and the Mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we are justified only exercising our faith in His name, not by our works. Justification is the renewal of the heart made through the Word and by the act of the Holy Spirit in a person’s heart by which the unbeliever repents, confesses, and accepts forgiveness of their sins, whereby they become a child of God.
THE PUBLIC WORSHIP
We believe in that the divine worship is essential to the life of the Church and the assemblies of the people of God are necessary to Christian fellowship and spiritual growth.
THE GOOD WORKS
Good works, by themselves, cannot put away our sins and endure the severity of God’s judgment. Good works, which are the fruits of faith, and follow after justification, are pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ and spring out of a true and lively faith.
SON OF GOD, DEATH AND RESURRECTION
Jesus Christ, the Son of God possesses both divine and human nature and they are inseparable and perfectly united. He is the only begotten Son of God who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived, suffered and died on the cross. He was buried; rose again from the dead on the third day, ascended to heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, from whence He shall return. He is the eternal Savior of humankind by whom all people will be judged.
THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE
We believe God ordained marriage and the family as the foundational institution of human society, and that the only legitimate marriage is a sacred and permanent covenant relationship between one man and one woman, symbolizing the union of Christ and his Church. (Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-25). We believe that the term 'marriage' has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. Therefore, at IIC, we only permit our ministers to conduct marriage sanctioned by God as stated above.
However, we believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accordance with Scripture nor the doctrines of this church.
